Be careful when warming up your car in an interior garage!![]() It is quite common that people warm up their cars even though they have them parked indoors. Such pattern can have dangerous and unforeseeable consequences. Indoor parking is usually heated therefore there is no need to warm up the vehicle. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a toxic gas which is odourless and colorless. It is produced whenever any fuel is burned. The carbon monoxide produced by cars is not only poisonous for us but an accumulation of it can cause the ventilation and heating system of the building to be destabilized. Destabilization of the ventilation and heating system can result in overheating, poor air quality and even a shut-down of the entire system. The garage could then turn into a health hazard. The appropriate temperature of an underground garage should be approximately 15oC. Though the garage may sometimes feel chilly due to cold air penetrating when cars go in and out, there is no need to warm the car. So the next time you get in your car, don't warm it. Start it and leave. right away! |
